Pirates in Sell mode
« on: 2 Jul 2019 8:16:17 PM »
Despite being on the fringes of the WC race not to mention the NL Central title, the Pirates are looking to re-tool a bit. Just about anybody can be had. Obviously some guys will be harder to obtain than others.

Primarily we are interested in acquiring draft picks. Minor leaguers who still have some value could also be interesting to us. Players with contracts expiring in 2020 through 2022 are:

Byron Buxton
Wilmer Flores
Rougned Odor
Michael Conforto
Hunter Strickland
Cesar Hernandez

Guys on 2019 expiring contracts are:
Brad Peacock
CC Sabathia
Evan Gattis
Blake Parker
Josh Harrison

Everybody else has 3+ years of eligibility or cannot be traded for any of a variety of reasons.

Let us know if you see anything that could be helpful. The goal here is NOT to do a full blown tear-down of the roster. We do want to move a few contracts; but just a handful. Therefore it may end being a first-come first-serve situation as to who gets moved and who we hold onto.

Thanks for reading.

Three pitchers traded. Still have attractive bats to be had.

Conforto has been moved eastward to the other side of Pennsylvania.

Byron Buxton can probably be had for two draft picks + one minor league SP. The word "probably" is included because if the pitcher offered has already crapped out and/or the two draft picks are both 5th rounders, chances are that offer will be declined.

We'd like to move Buxton, but we're perfectly happy holding onto him for the time being.

You know how to get in touch with us.

RIP Jim Bouton. Loved reading Ball Four when it came out. Was very happy Mom & Dad didn't know what was in it.
