2018 DMBO Awards
« on: 11 Jan 2019 4:01:45 PM »
Ok.

I have volunteered to assemble the Awards voting for 2018.

I have stolen (appropriated) Mondo's text from last year since expedience seems a good approach here.

Here is the placeholder for the Awards voting.  Please email your ballots to the league email address (no PMs, please!).  If you want to hype your candidates for any awards, it's perfectly allowed to post them in this thread.

I will be posting some stats soon to make this easier for you soon, but if you want to jump on it... it would be great, remember, having one of your players win an award helps with your salary cap ! (So voting for John Mondo as GM of the year, would be greatly appreciated)

I will keep tabs of Ballots here, and I will be updating this thread in the next day or so with some pertinent information to make voting easier

Most Valuable Player

You know the drill. This is for the player with the most impact, the player that had the best season, or both?  Thatís up to your definition.  For both the American League and National League, please submit your ranked list of the top 10 players.  Donít forget that both pitchers and hitters qualify for this award.  A #1 vote receives 14 points, with a #2 vote receiving 9 points, #3 8 points, etc.

Hank Aaron Award

Simply put, the best hitter in each league should win this award.  You only need to submit a ranked list of the top 3 players in each league for this award.  #1 votes will receive 5 points, #2 3 points, #3 1 point.

Cy Young Award

Best pitcher in each league, regardless if you think itís a starter or a reliever.  Submit a ranked list of your top 3 choices, with #1 votes getting 5 points, #2 3 points, #3 1 point.

Rookie of the Year Award (aka Jackie Robinson Award)

Ranked list of your top 3 in each league, with #1 votes getting 5 points, #2 3 points, #3 1 point.  A list of the top rookies in each league and some basic stats will be included in the post (I'm working on them now).  If you donít see a rookie that you think should be included on the list as a plausible top 5 candidate, please post that information in this thread or send me a PM and gladly I'll add the rookie.

GM of the Year Award

Probably the most important award in our league.  Use whatever criteria you see fit, be it improvement over last year, trades, drafting, free agent signings, or some combination thereof.  Submit a ranked list of your top 3 GMs in each league.  #1 votes will receive 5 points, #2 3 points, #3 1 point.

Please submit votes by Jan 25.  Obviously sooner than later.

Even though I've resigned my position, do I still get a vote since I was active for the 2018 season?

Although I am not directly involved in the awards voting, but the suggestion is to complete and submit a ballot.

Starting to do awards. My only hard part is determining who is eligible for ROY. Can we post guys that we want considered. I have Rhys Hoskins, 30 HR's, 101 RBI, 240 Avg, 329 OBP.

I think both Larry's could be right about Hoskins.

Seeing no one responding to Larry, I am posting some credible candidates (add your own):

Jabari Blash should probably be on the AL hitter list; he was marginally better than Gallo and Bellinger.
