Pirates Off-Season
« on: 6 Dec 2017 9:09:40 PM »
The plans for the off-season in Pittsburgh have been formalized and agreed to. The goal is continue our recent success as we attempt to claim an NL playoff spot for the 4th consecutive season. Not that long ago writing that statement would have been unthinkable; but here we are.

Our biggest needs for 2018 are:
  • Acquiring at least one if not two Starting Pitchers to lead the staff - we'd prefer a southpaw, but  we'd consider any quality starter.
  • Middle infield help at either 2B or SS is necessary- we contacted a number of teams directly on this need. If we overlooked you and you'd like to get involved let us know.
  • We would consider trading Wil Myers or Trey Mancini to improve offense at 1B or RF/LF
  • The bullpen could use some fine tuning-same as every other season - but after taking an RP in the Winter Draft this is less of a need than it was a originally

It's hard to see us parting with Buxton or Conforto. Anybody else we'd be willing to discuss. That includes either or both of our 1st round draft picks. And here's a switch for us, we have enough cap space to be able to take on some salary (but let's not get crazy).

Bump for edit
