By my count, the number is three.  All were in my remaining Top 5.

And we're done!  All remaining winter draft players will be added to the free agent pool in a few minutes.

Now that the Winter draft is over, it is interesting about the caliber of players who were not selected. One of the proposals for a possible Rule V Draft in our league has been that it would be for these players that were not drafted. I have identified 10 players that I would have been interested in a Rule V Draft under this scenario. They are Stephen Fife, Brandon Kintzler, Ed Lucas, Jean Machi, T J McFarland, Blake Parker, Chris Rusin, Josh Satin, Anthony Varvano and Adam Warren. I am sure that there are others. I also feel that the quality of our Rule V draft surpasses that of the talent in the Major League Rule V draft.

You can still get them and make use of their lack of service time, Larry!  Just make a bid in Tier 2 (but not Tier 3 - those players are signable for one year only and then get released), and there you go.

None of that invalidates your point, though, Larry, which is a good one - this year especially it seems like the depth in the winter draft is fairly strong.  It's probably not as strong as, for example, a 6th round in the summer draft might be (outside of the top few), but I'm guessing it's worlds better than what a Rule 5 pool would look like.

Ouch - just saw that the White Sox traded Addison Reed for Matt Davidson, who will likely be their third baseman.  Hopefully Gillaspie gets traded now, as I'm convinced he can become a solid everyday third baseman if given the opportunity.  Otherwise he's stuck as a bench guy on an AL team, which is hardly a good way to get playing time.

Tough week for the DMBO Phils. :(
