2013 Baltimore Orioles - Team Outlook
« on: 15 Jan 2012 8:38:07 PM »
Never got around to this for 2012 so changing it to 2013.

batters (avg, obp, slg, OPS+, WAR)
C:   A.J. Pierzynski (.277, .311, .430, 93, 1.8 )
1B:  Luke Scott (.241, .309, .441, 109, 0.8 )
2B:  Omar Infante (.278, .308, .387, 88, 1.9)
3B:  Mike Olt (.247, .331, .429, 98, 2.4)
SS:  Yunel Escobar (.256, .321, .348, 90, 2.5)
LF:  Andy Dirks (.276, .319, .418, 99, 1.5)
CF:  Carlos Gomez (.249, .300, .418, 90, 2.1)
RF:  Dexter Fowler (.272, .364, .456, 107, 2.4)
DH: Curtis Granderson (.243, .329, .483, 115, 3)

Bench:
Derek Norris (.198, .307, .338, 79, 1.2)
Travis Snider (.253, .310, .403, 96, .8 )
Will Rhymes (.261, .314, .346, 80, .3)
Jimmy Paredes (.236, .265, .338, 65, -0.2)

Reserves:
Kolton Wong (.279, .328, .390, 98, 2.3)
Matt Szczur (.256, .312, .361, 83, 1.5)
Logan Forsythe (.234, .325, .347, 90, .9)
AJ Pollock (.264, .305, .361, 78, .5)

I think they will sim better than 2012's team but still not strong.

Pitchers (IP, ERA+, WAR)
Rotation:
1  Trevor Cahill (200.3, 108, 3.9)
2  Doug Fister (171, 106, 3.2)
3  Anibal Sanchez (185, 99, 2.8)
4 Mark Buerhle (168.3, 98, 2.5)
5 Hisashi Iwakuma (128.3, 95, 1.3)

Bullpen:
Closer: Rafael Soriano (54.3, 120, 0.8)
Tom Wilhelmsen (75, 122, 0.9)
Addison Reed (66.7, 112, 1)
Esmil Rogers (80, 100, 0.7)
Frank Francisco (47.7, 100, 0.2)

I don't think this is any better than a 75 win team if things fall right.

There are a whole slew of #1 starting pitchers available in this year's free agent pool, and Cahill got a good projection, as did Fister - I think the rotation will end up being very good.  And bullpens are always the easiest spot to cobble together.  If things break wonderfully I could see a second place finish, although there's no way you're getting past the Jays unless Scot implodes his team.
