Phillies outlook
« on: 10 Jan 2012 12:49:26 PM »
With Hanley gone, it will be interesting to see if the Phils can keep their recent run of success in the NL East going in 2012.

Lineup at the moment:

CF Jon Jay
C Carlos Ruiz
LF Luke Scott
1B Mark Teixeira
RF Jayson Werth
3B ??
SS ??
2B Carlos Guillen

It's not bad, but lacking the big boppers of the past few years now that the Ramirezes (Hanley and Aramis) are gone.

There's a youth movement afoot in the pitching staff, so things aren't as rosy as last year, but they're not bad either.  The rotation looks a lot more settled than the lineup:

LHP Cole Hamels
LHP Derek Holland
RHP Gavin Floyd
RHP Justin Masterson
RHP Ryan Dempster

I'll be relying heavily on youth to fill out the bullpen cheaply behind Joakim Soria:

CL Joakim Soria
SET/R Santiago Casilla
SET/L ???
MR Fautino de los Santos
MR Shawn Kelley
MR Chris Leroux

Obviously this year's chances depend on filling/upgrading the infield, as well as hopefully grabbing a good arm or two in free agency.  If you're looking to move guys who fit that profile, let me know via PM or the Trade Desk.
