The game was played interactively by Scot and I using the netplay feature of DMB, allowing us to make real-time managerial moves. It was a great success except for one thing...at the end, I managed to exit the game without saving the box score file (I had forgot it does not do this automatically in interactive mode, even if it's the default for the league). Terribly sorry...I simply bungled it. So this is from recollection...I would appreciate if Scot would provide more details if he remembers. (Editor's note - additional details and corrections from Scot and Bruce are included here in the initial summary.) The NL took the lead by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd off Wang, but that lead was shortlived, as Johan Santana gave up three runs in the top of the 3rd. It remained tied into the 6th, when Verlander gave up a 2-run HR to Thome. With two out and Brian Roberts at first, I was concerned he would be trying to steal to get in scoring position; Scot had been pretty aggressive on the basepaths, and rightfully so, as the AL had a bunch of good runners (I had earlier sniffed out a Hanley Ramirez attempt and pitched out to nail him). I threw over a couple of times and then threw a pitchout, but nothing doing. One should probably never intentionally fall behind Thome, and he made me pay with the big fly. The AL scored single runs in the 8th and 9th to extend the lead to 7-3, while the NL was essentially shut down by a string of AL pitchers. Joe Nathan came in to close out the game in the bottom of the 9th. The NL tried to put together a rally stringing together three hits, scoring one run and having runners at the corners with one out. However, Nathan was able to get Victor Martinez to ground into a DP to end the game. The AL outhit the NL 15 to 7, and the score could have been considerably worse had the AL not lost four runners on the bases. 50 of the 52 players appeared in the game, with only Odalis Perez and John Garland being held in reserve in case of extra innings.
